Continuing annual trek

Linda DiMatteo has had her camera at the ready recently, and included is a photo of Joe Englert placing American Flags a couple of weeks ago along a route which included Rt. 6 and Maltby Street in Bristol, as well as Forestville Center. This was an annual trek organized by Joe and friends. Tim Gamache drove the True Value truck as it went over this route, and Elliott Nelson, a close friend of the late Art Ward, handed the flags to Joe as the former mayor previously had done until his passing.

Those who helped prepare the flags ahead of time were Linda, Jo-Carol Kalasenski, Harley Graime. Rose Englert, and Michelle (Englert) Perry.

Me

I don’t like to write about myself, but many have asked about me being missing in action here. Well, I’ve been battling health issues (cancers), as well as fatigue which has accompanied them. How am I doing? Not sure, it’s day-by-day. I’m starting to get out after over a year or so, but who knows what’s ahead for me. The pandemic is/was also something we all had to deal with. I keep a positive outlook - Bob

Steve’s Top Dog

Steve’s Top Dog, a food truck on Middle Street, took vacation time after Memorial

Day. It’s scheduled to be featured Friday morning at around 9- 9:30 on Channel 3’s “Food Truck” segment. Steve Lavoie said he was going to spiffy-up the truck the day prior.

Person of the Week

Honors goes to Lenny LaMothe, a retired parks employee. I saw him the other day, and it reminded me of what a great guy he is. I had dubbed this fellow “Mr. Rockwell Park” when he retired in recent years.

It also reminded me of the many standout workers the Bristol Parks Department has had through the years.
