Lancers had leaders

However, outside of their play on the field it was their leadership that separated them from the rest.

“They brought good energy to the park everyday and we’re going to miss that,” he said. “They were two kids that everybody looked up to, liked and followed and I’m truly going to miss that. As a coach you need that kind of leadership.”

He said they’re also going to miss senior catcher Sarah Lacouture, who came out of retirement to play her senior year. He said she provided stability at the catcher position and helped their team in more ways than one.

“We’re going to miss the three of them,” he said.

Despite the season ending, Catlin said “they have nothing to frown about.”

“They had a good year. This was a good season, they overachieved and they did well,” he said. “I’m proud of them. We came in and won a state tournament game and that’s not easy to do, especially as a twenty-two seed.”
